SHARDALE THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITY

Alcohol Treatment

Drug & Alcohol Treatment

The Shardale abstinence based treatment programmes are suited to those individuals who satisfy the ICD 10 classification for alcohol or drug dependence as ‘a cluster of psychological, behavioural and cognitive phenomena in which the use of a substance or class of substances takes on a much higher priority for a given individual than other behaviours’.

Shardale programmes are underpinned by Choice Theory, which is a proven and effective system for attaining a more efficient and fulfilling way of living. The programmes also incorporate basic living skills and vocational training in order to ensure that upon the completion of the programme participants have the necessary life skills to manage employment and responsible social living.

At Taylor House, St Annes, the programme is designed for individual’s whose primary substance problem is related to alcohol dependence. However this does prevent participation in the programme for those who as well as their alcohol problem are also experiencing lesser problems with prescribed, over the counter, or illicit drugs.
